Head of Groups

This person will be responsible for all group parties, climb time and reach camps. This is a priority position for supplemental Desk, Belay Groups, and Instruction hours.
Hours:
• Full or part time depending on time spend instructing and combined with other responsibilities.
• Weekly hours : 30-35 hours per week
• Reports to Facility Manager

Qualification Requirements:

• Extremely self-motivated individual.
• Friendly, enthusiastic and can deliver exceptional customer service.
• Punctual, dependable, and ability to multi-task.
• Strong work ethic and ability to display good judgment.
• Excellent communication and ability to work with a wide range of personalities.
• Customer service and sales experience a plus.
• Knowledge of indoor climbing procedures and practices a plus.
• Previous climbing gym work experience (and use of Rock Gym Pro preferred).
• Professionalism and ability to supervise facility, follow and enforce rules and regulations.
• Must be a competent climber.
• Good administrative skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to teach beginners.
• Ability to work some evenings/weekends.
• 2+ years of climbing experience (indoors or out).

Responsibilities:

• Work a minimum of 4 groups per month or as requested by management
• Assist with all large groups; lead all groups larger than 20 climbers
• Help hire new belay staff
• Train new belay staff
• Observe groups regularly to monitor event staff and give both positive feedback and corrective guidance
• Maintain a consistently high quality of customer service, safety and enthusiasm within the Group Program
• Schedule/fill up groups & climb times- check RGP
• Monitor group signups for staffing and missing information
• Manage, plan and staff Corporate Team Building events
• Make sure all groups are properly staffed
• Inform Marketing/Social Event Coordinator of all upcoming events or potential promotional opportunities
• Help give Event staff reviews
• Must be available during the summer Reach Camp months to manage and staff camps
• Proficient with all systems used in camp activities
• Lead a minimum of 3 weeks of camps per summer
• Help plan and staff Reach Camps
• Hold Pre-Camp meeting in June for planning and training with staff
• Hold meetings with Event staff periodically to re-train and review progress/customer feedback
• Monitor and maintain all Reach Camp equipment

Instructor Position Needed

Requirements and Responsibilities

The Instruction Staff is responsible for providing excellent customer service, communicating gym during your classes and even when you are climbing off the clock. Making sure you clearly communicate what we teach while still holding to our policies and procedures to all clientele, and ensuring that all policies are being enforced with regards to safety and gym rules.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Hours:

This is a part-time position.
2-4 instruction shifts per week (Possibly 2 weekday shifts M-F, Most needed 2-4 weekend shifts per month)
8-16 hours per week(Possibly more if opportunities arise for privates)

Qualification Requirements:

Friendly and enthusiastic.
Knowledge of teaching beginners how to belay in the current style.
Knowledge of climbing techniques and ability to modify others to help them learn them.
Customer service and ability to teach others.
Excellent communication and ability to work with a wide range of personalities.

Risk management, safety, and floor supervision.
Previous climbing gym work experience (and use of Rock Gym Pro preferred).

Weekly Responsibilities:

Communicate policies, procedures and safety requirements, and enforce all gym policies.
Arrive to shifts on time and be prepared to teach.
Provide general instruction on climbing techniques in a fun and engaging way
during open hours and group events and instruction.
Give safety checks including all necessary documentation.
Explain climbing equipment, techniques, and safety methods.
Instruct climbing classes including basic belaying, lead climbing/belaying.
Maintain climbing equipment. Including, but not limited to: cleaning equipment, holds,
